Now that I've got another doll in the family it's time to build that closet! I know she's still very new and all but it upsets me a little when I compare Polaire's closet to Lenny's... I'm sure she dreams of having a massive outfit collection to choose from too =3=

So far I'm thinking key pieces will be big fluffy jackets, fit-and-flare dresses/circle skirt, ankle socks, and maybe skinny pants? As for any cute lingerie in the closet, I'll probably have to make it myself because of her unique body type. Not really unique, per se, but I don't have any comparable bodies for LM Harmony small bust :(

guu doll

I can't believe I'm already trying to plan my next doll when my Little Monica girl hasn't even arrived yet. So for the past week or so, I've been looking for a shorter SD girl (<57cm tall) to add a little variety to my doll collection. I wasn't sure if I would be able to find anything, because even though I know quite a few companies with the sizes I want, I'm not really that big on their sculpts. Who knows when I'll be able to find what I want =3= Let me know if you have any ideas!

Today I made quite the discovery while doing my regular Taobao search! I found a very small doll company called Guu Doll with only 2 head sculpts, both which fit on a 58cm SD girl body. Neither of the sculpts is fully open eyed, which I don't mind, but I hope that the sculptor releases an open-eyed head soon. I'm really happy with how they sculpted the body, too! (WARNING: doll nudity ahead)

I've also translated the measurements given on the sales page below, just in case you're interested in making a few comparisons! You probably won't believe me when I say this, but these very beautiful dolls are only 1500 RMB (for a blank doll), which is about $248 USD. That's almost unbelievable for a well-sculpted doll with double joints and a pretty face these days =3=

taobao finds and updates

Hey everyone! I've received news on my Promise of the World order. After some help from another DoA member, it appears that my order has been found and already shipped by the company on December 25! According to the tracking number I was just given, the parcel has actually just arrived at my campus, so I'm very excited to open/review the goods come Monday :)

I've also been scouring Taobao for goodies for my incoming doll and I have an excellent find I'd like to share with you all~ Check out these lovely eyes from Fairy Woods! These are some of the most high quality glass eyes I've ever seen and for a very low price as well. Unfortunately I believe this is a preorder page, and the current preordering period ends on January 6th. Hopefully there will be a new ordering period soon, because these eyes are just too beautiful to miss out on.

It's not very apparent in this picture, but there's glitter in the pupils. Almost gives them a magical girl sort of touch =3=

Here's another example of Fairy Woods eyes! These don't have sparkle in them, but the detailing in the iris is amazing up close.

I'm actually making this post as a semi-reminder to myself to get cute pastel items for my Dollpamm girl when I decide to save up and get her! I have a lot of things planned out, but I don't intend for her to be my second doll, so this giant wishlist is just going to have to wait for awhile!

new shop: promise of the world

I followed this store a while back on Etsy, but I'd forgotten about them until they posted their moving notice on Den of Angels. It's a really cute store with tons of adorable clothes at good prices (if you don't mind $20 EMS shipping)!

I picked all of these items from EasyID's side of the store! There's a lot of sailor-inspired items and I'm really liking the aesthetic. Hopefully I can pick up a few of these for Lenny and her future friends :x But then again I should probably watch what I spend so I can start saving up for my next doll... ヽ( ´¬`)ノ

kaleido!

Be very careful when helping other people with their doll plans. Be very, very careful. Otherwise you might end up wanting everything you're recommending to them...

Yesterday my friend was doing some casual planning with Oasisdoll's Naomi and I decided to chip in with some shops for wigs, clothes, etc. and stumbled upon Kaleido, the Taobao store I bought Lenny's wig from. Let's see what they have in stock!



I think I'm probably going to end up buying the wig on the right for Lenny. She does need a new one after all, and her birthday's in September...

These dresses are so cute! I think I'm going to have to add either one of them into my order. Gosh I don't know... Kaleido has such excellent styling with their products, it's so difficult to say no to anything they have in store. It doesn't help that they seem to follow a gyaru/aomoji style with their wigs and clothes (one of their BJD dresses is modeled after the one spo cat dress!) which makes things even harder for me! I hope my cousin gets her Taobao order set up soon so I save a little on shipping costs... (ﾉ)´∀｀(ヾ)

new licht releases!

Happy July, everyone! The days are getting hotter and hotter. I'm not even in SoCal right now, I probably shouldn't be complaining about the heat. While I could go on about how awful it gets each day I do have some good news! Licht has a few new wigs up in the shop and they are absolutely beautiful! I just missed the last Licht GO and hopefully the next one will run around before they sell out of these wigs :(

The pink "vanilla" color is my absolute favorite. I have no idea what I'd do with it, but I am definitely going to try and get it... somehow.

dollpamm!!!

If you couldn't tell already by the number of exclamation marks in the post title, I am VERY excited about the grand opening of DollPamm's international shop. All their Loli-type girls are so adorable...  And those cute animal ear/tail accessories! I really want a Momo or a Mochi with the cat or bunny accessory set.

They really remind me of the Elin race from TERA or the Lyn from Blade and Soul... I'm not the only one who thinks that, right?

on LUTS

LUTS was one of the very first companies I encountered when I started looking into the BJD hobby, the other being Dream of Doll. Another fun fact - the very first doll I fell in love with was a LUTS Soony. I didn't think I would have the money for her at the time, so I settled for a Shushu from the Minifee line that later got moved to Fairyland.

 

They sure have changed a lot since then. I'm almost positive that they have a new sculptor, since none of their current doll lines look anything like what they previously had. Not that I'm complaining, though. I really love the faces of the new Delf sculpts they're putting out. Speaking of which, check out these beauties that will be released soon!

Ah... I really like Ju Hee... I can hear my wallet crying already.

I think a few of you have probably already realized that I'm just naturally drawn to female sculpts when it comes to BJDs. Here's a gratuitous photo post of all the pretty ladies I've been seeing in doll news this month!

 

Don't you love how they did her makeup? I could totally see this look going on a model or a fashion blogger who likes to experiment with edgier looks. This is Green, from the newly reopened POPOdoll, and her unique default faceup is what really caught me eye! She has strong, yet soft features, and she looks like the perfect mix of fierce and beautiful. 

I'm in love with sweet faces too. Angell-Studio's Lan is a perfect example of the kind of face I would ideally sculpt if I actually had any talent with this kind of thing (or if I even tried my hand at sculpting...) If I had to describe her character I'd probably call her something along the lines of elegant and a little bit on the reserved side. She looks great with both long hair and short hair and aaaah I'd totally buy her if I had the cash =A=

I think I'm starting to notice a trend here, really. When I began this hobby more than 5 years ago I proclaimed dolls from Chinese companies to be much less aesthetically pleasing than say, the likes of famous Korean companies like Fairyland and Iplehouse. What I didn't realize is that there were plenty of other Chinese companies not nearly as well-known as DollZone or Angel of Dream (whose sculpts really just aren't my thing)... and now almost every pretty doll I dig up ends up being from China. Weird how everything I say I won't do/like in this hobby comes back to bite me. Still saving up for that boy doll. *wheezes*

february wishlist

I just noticed I've acquired quite a few followers from when I first started this blog. Welcome to Cafe Amaretto, everyone! Sorry for the delay on this post, I was meaning to do a wishlist post for this month but I've been very busy with schoolwork and midterms and other things, so I haven't really quite found enough time to make good picks until now. I'll be taking a slight departure from my last official wishlist post. Instead of pointing out shops/artists, I'll be selecting specific outfits that I like. All of these outfits are listed on Taobao, so if you're interested in getting them for your dolls, I highly suggest finding an agent to do so.

The first outfit I'd like to introduce is nothing like what I usually pick - it's actually a sweet lolita dress! I purchased a natural-style outfit set from 42workshop before, but as you can see, they're really great with ruffles and pleats too. The Sweet Candy lolita outfit also comes with a set of neckwarmer and mufflers that you can buy separately, and also has a pink version of the dress set. Yo-SD size is also available.

Infinite Love has always been one of my favorite brands for doll clothes, but I think this is the first time I've seen them make something different from their pretty printed kimono sets. I really love this mori-style outfit. All the crochet lace and tulle ♡ (I actually might buy this in the near future!)

Have I expressed my love for ballerina-style dresses here (both on people and dolls)? Because I love them! This adorable dress set comes with a dress with a poofy skirt, a beige knit sweater, and earmuffs. Winter's almost over so this won't really fit into a summer closet, but I think it's really cute.

This last one isn't an outfit, actually. Miko makes fancy doll jewelry that looks like jewelry for people at first glance. The image below showcases a pearl necklace and bracelet set. Perfect for a sophisticated little doll, don't you think? :) I think the owner only sells the jewelry at conventions though (or at least in very limited quantities on Taobao), so the listing price of 999 yuan is not accurate.

Happy Valentines Day from this side of the globe, everybody! I hope you had a splendid time with your gifts and chocolates and of course your loved ones! I'm currently recovering from my post-Valentines chocolate candy mountain coma... I'm not sure blogging around is the best way to go about it though, haha u_u

Today I'll be presenting a Taobao store called Candyland. I believe they only make outfits for SD girls, and in very limited quantities. I do love their style though! If you're a fan of mori kei, cult party, and lolita fashion, you'll understand why I love this shop so much.

 Note: the only one still left in stock is the red sailor set on the bottom left. I hope they don't sell out before I place my next Taobao order :(

mini dolls

Have any of you seen Fairyland's new Minifee doll? My goodness Celine is gorgeous! She almost makes me want to have a Minifee in my doll family again... Sadly I feel like a mature/slim mini girl would look very awkward next to Lenny. I do eventually want a double-jointed immature mini doll sometime in the future though, and sadly that doesn't seem to be a very popular trend among most doll companies. I do know the KDF line from Luts is double-jointed at the elbow, though, so I suppose maybe once my wallet has recovered from buying Polaire, I could consider KDF Nana or Pine? It's going to be difficult trying to find clothing for them though since most companies are all about producing clothes for slim minis now. Plus I don't have a list of shops for MSD size clothes like I do for SD size... Enjoy these two cuties in the meantime! It'll be a long, long time before I'll have to actually choose between them. But just for fun, Nana is on the left and Pine is on the right. Who's your pick? Let me know in the comments below :)
